    1. I received thi book for free from is is a story of a detective team with a psychoanalyst type twist it is a clever story, and has several murder mysteries in the book which are solved I enjoyed the mysteries and the way the protagonist thought through who and why, to come to the conclusion of who did it I have to say though, the crime descriptions were VERY gruesome and I found myself skipping over some of those passages this book is not for the fainted hearted If you can read past or skip those [...]

    2. Another translated Chinese work This is another police protocol book The descriptions in this book is quite vivid so I should warn anyone who is a little on the squeamish side not to read this I enjoyed seeing the break down of a police investigation Also, as we are following along with Han Yin, we get to see the inner workings of a criminal profiler which is interesting The descriptions in the book paint a vivid image in your mind so you can really get a feel of the story The interactions betwe [...]

    3. I would like to thank Netgalley and Publishing for an advance copy of A Devil s Mind, a police procedural set in City J, China.Han Yin, a renowned university professor in Sociopathy, is sent to City J to help the police in a troubling case they can make no headway with A woman s body has been found dismembered and spread throughout the city in the exact same places that another dismembered body was found 16 years previously The police are divided over whether it is the same killer or not Han Yin [...]

    4. Gangxueyin has a talent for conveying macabre and horror, but his characters fall flat in spite of his attempts to make them relatable and interesting Han Yin lacks the kind of depth readers look for in a main character He s interesting without being engaging, and his detective abilities are so above and beyond the skills of the police and detectives he works with that all believability disappears Han Yin also manages to solve several unrelated but equally gruesome murders and mysteries scattere [...]

    5. I won a Kindle copy of A Devil s Mind from a Giveaway.I had a lot of issues with this book and I m not sure if it had to do with the translation but right from the get go, I couldn t suspend my disbelief 1 Look, we all know China is a hugggeeeee territory but what are the odds that so many serial killers who are sexual deviants are preying on women and children in this area Do you know how rare serial killers are I guess they re all Made in China I couldn t help it The pun had to be said 2 Profe [...]

    6. I received this book through a Giveaway I enjoyed reading it A Devil s Mind was a thrilling book filled with mystery To be honest, I think Gangxueyin could have thrown in a little romance into the book I was hoping something to happen to Han Yin and Ye Xi in the end It was a little disappointing that they didn t have some true relationship Gangxueyin has a specialty in his writing I constantly get chills throughout the whole book It was quite frightening I honestly hate books about murder, and [...]

    7. I received this book as a Firstread Han Yin is a forensic psychologist who is called upon to consult and profile a possible serial killer in 2 dismemberment cases which occur 20 years apart While this appears to be a police procedural novel with a heavy emphasis on the psychology of the killer, the events are not believable The writing is obviously a translation from the original book The psychologist is presented with a number of different, gruesome killings while consulting, all of which he im [...]

    8. This book may have lost some of its charm due to the translation Or it simply wasn t that well written The dialogue especially was lacking in realism or was simply cringe worthy The misogynistic comments were off putting And any flirting attempts between any male or female character were simply awkward.Overall I found some of the psychological analysis of the serial killers interesting But so many serial killers within a few close villages, and all these cases solved by this main character so qu [...]

    9. I got this book as a Goveaway in exchange for an honest review It is a police procedural about a forensic psychologist who teaches in a university and is asked by the police to help with a crime Two women have been killed 20 years apart, but with the same MO Is this a serial killing As the psychologist investigates the crime, he is pulled into other crimes, so that you get a series of unrelated mysteries being solved All takes place in China Good read.

    10. A very interesting mystery It became and complicated as you read I learned about forensics and profiling, but important in this story, was seeing it from a Chinese point of view It added another layer to the story, taking me to a different place and adding nuances to the story.I would read another mystery by this author.

    11. Tense throughout, the detective has his nemeses lurking, perpetuating grisly crimes, just out of reach in a lethal game of catch up The twists keep coming and challenge the devout mystery reader at all times Super read

    12. Brilliant profiler solves 4 serial murders in two months, as well as a couple of miscellaneous cases A bit hard to swallow.
